Early mapmakers often filled unexplored regions with sea monsters and imagined coastlines. ______ modern satellite imaging has left almost no stretch of coast unmeasured, so today's maps rarely need to guess.
Which choice completes the text with the most logical transition?
How do the two sentences relate: same direction, contrast, cause and effect, or example? Old maps guessed; new maps don't.
C is right. The first sentence is about maps that guessed; the second is about maps that don't need to. That's a contrast. "As a result" is tempting, but old sea monsters didn't cause satellite imaging.

The test you're training for

The SAT is digital, taken in the College Board's Bluebook app. Each section has two modules, and how you do on the first sets the difficulty of the second. Getting to 1500+ means reaching the harder second module in both sections.

Do I need a parent to sign up?

No. If you're 13 or older you can make your own account with your email. We only ask for your first name, email and a password.

Is this the official SAT?

No. Teach Me 1600 isn't affiliated with the College Board. Every question here is written for this app in the style of the digital SAT. Take the College Board's full-length practice tests in Bluebook too; they're free and they're the real format. Use Teach Me 1600 for the daily reps in between.

Is the projected score real?

It's an estimate built from your skill levels, weighted by how much each skill counts on the test. It gets sharper the more you practice. Check it against an official Bluebook practice test.

Why doesn't a right answer with a hint count?

Because there are no hints on test day. A hint shows you the move. Doing it alone, at test speed, is the proof that it will be there when it counts.
